Congratulations To Bark For Life Wiener Dog Nationals Winners

The 2015 Bark For Life Wiener Dog Nationals is in the books. Thanks to all the participants who helped raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Boba Fett from Syvania, Ohio was a true underdog, barely making it into the finals event after winning the last chance race and then proceeded to win the race to the line over some pretty stout competition win the Bratwurst class. Cocoa from Bloomdale, Ohio finished in second and Buddy, from Toledo, Ohio, who was dominant in the first round races, only mustered a third place finish in the Bratwurst finals.

Rosie from Sylvania, Ohio was fast out of the gate, winning all of the round one heat races and continued that performance into the finals to claim the Franfurter title. Barkley from Miamisburg, Ohio had up and down performances in the first round, turned things up a bit for a second place finish with Whinney from Sylvania claiming third.

Our next event is scheduled for October 3rd at Oakshade Raceway near Wauseon, Ohio.

Championship Points Updated

Due to a scoring error that counted points from a couple extra races in our first event of the season, the championship points for the Frankfurters have been corrected. Only the first four heat races run for each dog should have been counted. Two additional heat race points were counted originally giving “extra” points to dogs in the Frankfurters at Monroe, MI’s Bark For Life event on 9/13. This only affected a few dogs in the Frankfurter class only. The corrected points are now posted on the Championship Points page.

Wiener Dog Nationals at the Mutt Strut Winners

Congratulations to Jerry Lee Leaper who picked up his second consecutive first place finish in the Frankfurters this past weekend and Bentley who took the top honors in the Bratwurst.

Rosie from Sylvania, Ohio was second and Doc from Erie, Michigan transferred into the finals from the last chance race and took home the third place trophy. Shelly was the first place winner at the last event, but could only manage a fourth place finish this time.

The Wiener Dog Nationals presented by Paws and Remember move on to Oakshade Raceway on Saturday, October 4 for the Championships. Trophies will be awarded to the event winners and the top three in each division in the Championship Point Standings. Participant check-in is from 8:30 to 9:30am. Oscar matched his best performance of the day with a second place finish. Sandy was third and McGee had an off race and finished fourth.

The Championship points have been updated and reflect a close race among the competitors in the Bratwurst division with Shelly nursing a five point advantage over both Sandy and McGee. Jerry Lee Leaper earned a four point advantage over Banjo in the Frankfurters.
