Bugsy from Troy, Ohio took second for the second consecutive week. Stella Louise from Lebanon, Ohio posted a third place finish in the Frankfurters. Jerry Lee Leaper, despite only racing at the first two events, accumulated enough points to become the first Wiener Dog Nationals presented by Paws and Remember point champion. Bugsy finished second in the points, just 7 points behind Jerry Lee Leaper. Cocoa’s domination on Saturday morning earned a third place championship trophy.
Bentley from Perrysburg, Ohio won his second consecutive Bratwurst class which racked up enough points to earn the Bratwurst point championship. Late entry Buddy from Toledo, Ohio finished in the runner up position. Rosie from Sylvania, Ohio finished second last week at the Mutt Strut and ended up third this week, but earned enough points to take second in the championship points standings. Due to a scoring error that counted points from a couple extra races in our first event of the season, the championship points for the Frankfurters have been corrected. Only the first four heat races run for each dog should have been counted. Two additional heat race points were counted originally giving “extra” points to dogs in the Frankfurters at Monroe, MI’s Bark For Life event on 9/13. This only affected a few dogs in the Frankfurter class only. The corrected points are now posted on the Championship Points page.
Congratulations to Jerry Lee Leaper who picked up his second consecutive first place finish in the Frankfurters this past weekend and Bentley who took the top honors in the Bratwurst.
Jerry Lee Leaper from Toledo earned a 29 point lead in the Wiener Dog Nationals Championship Point Standings with his win headed into this weekend’s final event at Oakshade Raceway. Bugsy Troy, Ohio won the second place trophy and Larry from Perrysburg, Ohio was third in the Frankfurters.
Shelly remains atop the Bratwurst division with a 9 point advantage over Bentley who finished in first on Saturday. Rosie from Sylvania, Ohio was second and Doc from Erie, Michigan transferred into the finals from the last chance race and took home the third place trophy. Shelly was the first place winner at the last event, but could only manage a fourth place finish this time.

It was a bit of a chilly late summer morning, that was heated up by the on-track racing action! Heat race winners in the lighter Frankfurter division were Banjo (1), Jerry Lee Leaper (3) and Ziggy (2). Heat race winners in the Bratwurst Division included Shelly (3) and McGee (2).
Jerry Lee Leaper continued his winning ways with the win in the Frankfurter Finals over Banjo, Ziggy and Charles. Shelly finished off the day in the Bratwurst Finals with a win. Oscar matched his best performance of the day with a second place finish. Sandy was third and McGee had an off race and finished fourth.
The Championship points have been updated and reflect a close race among the competitors in the Bratwurst division with Shelly nursing a five point advantage over both Sandy and McGee. Jerry Lee Leaper earned a four point advantage over Banjo in the Frankfurters.
