Championship Points Updated

Due to a scoring error that counted points from a couple extra races in our first event of the season, the championship points for the Frankfurters have been corrected. Only the first four heat races run for each dog should have been counted. Two additional heat race points were counted originally giving “extra” points to dogs in the Frankfurters at Monroe, MI’s Bark For Life event on 9/13. This only affected a few dogs in the Frankfurter class only. The corrected points are now posted on the Championship Points page.

Shelly remains atop the Bratwurst division with a 9 point advantage over Bentley who finished in first on Saturday. Rosie from Sylvania, Ohio was second and Doc from Erie, Michigan transferred into the finals from the last chance race and took home the third place trophy. Oscar matched his best performance of the day with a second place finish. Sandy was third and McGee had an off race and finished fourth.

2014 Schedule Coming Together

The 2014 Wiener Dog Nationals race calendar is coming together and will be finalized soon. Our first race is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 13 in Monroe, Michigan at the Bark For Life benefitting the American Cancer Society. The next event will be at the Mutt Strut in Perrysburg, Ohio on Saturday, September 27. Still working on our final event at Oakshade Raceway near Wauseon, Ohio on Saturday, October 4 which will wrap up the first ever Wiener Dog Nationals Championship for dogs competing in all three events. Check out the Event Calendar for more details. Entries will open up for all events in June.

Also new this year will be a revised race format that will allow for more races for each dog at each event and the elimination of the semi-final round. We hope this will also lessen the duration of each event with less downtime. More details can be found on our Rules page.

We are also looking for sponsors for this year’s events. All money collected cover event expenses and the rest is given to the non-profit beneficiary of that event. Please check out the Sponsorship Information page if you are interested in helping out this great event!
